My son got his first Gabb watch when he was 8 years old. We got it because some days mom picked him up, sometimes dad picked him up, and we wanted to teach him to let us know where he is and that he got picked up. I was worried he would play too many games but it hasn't been as much as I expected. And boy does he love his axolotl pet! Love that I could set tasks for him too.
